New Basket Workshop comes to Tyee Arts: Gathering Basket
Come join us for a day of basket weaving on the land at Tyee Arts, an easy day trip from Seattle or Vancouver into the forests of Skagit Valley.
The double-bottom gathering basket is one of the most useful shapes in traditional basket weaving, sturdy enough for produce, kindling, or a dish carried to the next gathering, and beautiful enough to earn a permanent place in your home. No experience is needed. This is a generous first basket for new weavers, and a satisfying one for anyone who already loves working with their hands.
This full-day workshop is taught by Theresa Trebon, who has been teaching weaving and basketry for more than forty years. The morning is spent learning to work with reed and preparing your base. After lunch, you'll complete the basket and leave with a finished piece made entirely by you.
